Nancy O'Dell's broadcast career began as a journalist and anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Later, she was a anchor of the morning news and as a crime reporter for WCBD-TV. Her reporting of the ineffective police response to DUI cases in Charleston caused an investigation conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, that led to a revised policy from state officials regarding DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell was honored by her colleagues at the Associated Press with the Best Report of the Year Awards to all media South Carolina. Following her stint in Charleston, O'Dell worked as a co-anchor for the NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV and as an investigative reporter. She then became a part of Access Hollywood to work as a weekday and weekend correspondent. In addition, she serves as a co-anchor on Dateline NBC and NBC News Today. She's reported on events such including The Oscars The Emmys The Grammys and The Golden Globe Awards as well as co-hosting a number of pre-show arrivals to The Emmys and the Golden Globes.
